ARK Dynamics is a research consultancy and provider of biotechnology and environment facing educational and information materials.

We build bespoke products for audiences ranging from school and university students, to government agencies and companies requiring decision support tools for management of aquatic ecosystems and applied biotechnology. We deliver mainly through a combination of interactive simulations, using a system dynamics approach, operating on Windows PC platforms and text-based media.

We specialise in development and deployment of unique suites of cybernetic models describing how the physiology and growth of free-living aquatic organisms plays out in dynamic systems. The history of our work stems primarily from interests in aquatic planktonic systems as exemplars of broad ecological concepts (e.g., nutrient recycling, stoichiometric ecology), for specific ecosystems (e.g., blooms of bioluminescent Noctiluca), and also in microalgal biotechnology and feedstock production.

We bring together over 50 person-years of experience, with core concepts rooted in peer-reviewed science. Our skill sets are primarily directed towards aquatic plankton ecology, but we also have outputs in fields relating to governance and microalgal biotechnology. We have used our expertise to deliver products as diverse as decision-support tools to government agencies through to EU-funded education materials on ocean literacy and research.
